There are babies who fall asleep the minute the plane takes off and sleep the entire flight. Those babies would not be mine...
I have to admit, I seriously considered sedating Alex somehow for the flight. Baby Gravol perhaps. But with my luck it would act as a stimulant, so I just hoped for the best.
I have to admit she was pretty good. All smiles at the people seated near us. But sleep? Hardly.
She did actually fall asleep during take-off. I was amazed and feeling pretty hopeful about the rest of the trip. Not long after we got to cruising altitude the pilot came on over the speakers to welcome us on the flight - bing!!! eyes open... Hmmmm.... a 20 minute nap?? This is going to be a long flight.
So I walk and walk and walk up and down the aisles. I hang out at the back of the plane. She's content enough at least.
For her next nap I put her in the Trekker - that buys me 30 minutes. This is 5-hour flight, and all I get is maybe 60 minutes of her asleep (30 of which I am standing anyway).
The flight back was no better.
And to make it worse, there was this family on the return flight with a little baby who slept the ENTIRE flight. Jealousy... not a pretty sight.
