Since I had a post about boys and breasts, I thought it only fair to have one about boys and penises (is that the plural of penis?).
I am always amazed at how early boys become obsessed with the penis. And I'm not just talking about holding it...
Owen was out playing hockey the other day and was dancing around with the stick sticking out, yelling "I've got a giant penis!! I've got a giant penis!!"
Naturally, my husband is always embarrassed when Owen uses the word 'penis'. Having grown up in a household that would never use that word, he finds it strange that I insist on calling it a penis. I mean you call an elbow an elbow, don't you?
I must admit I do struggle at times with the constant fondling and holding, although I know that it is perfectly normal. I know that there is nothing sexual about his body exploration, but am always a bit taken aback when he walks around in the morning at high mast...
The other day we moved him into a booster seat. How does this relate to this post, you wonder? Owen had started complaining that the buckle rubbing against him kept making his penis hard. I figured that was reason enough to make the switch.
I'm sure this obsession will only increase as he ages... this is one phase that will not pass.
