Grandmothers - and They Don't even Have to be Yours!!

When I was traveling with Alex in Toronto we stayed at a hotel for two nights. That was the most difficult time while traveling alone with her.

Just one big room with a light-sleeping baby...

Fortunately I thought to bring a book, otherwise nap time would have been really exciting!

But even eating was a challenge. The first night I waited until she was asleep and then ordered in room service. I sat quietly in the dark eating my burger and fries.

The next day I had breakfast and lunch in the hotel restaurant. She was too little to sit in a high chair, so I had to have her on my lap while I ate. I got pretty good at not spilling things on her.

At lunch time there was an older couple sitting at the table right behind me. The lady asked me if I would let her hold my baby while I had my lunch.

'Let' you?? Here you go!!

Alex was so content hanging out with this lady, who had clearly raised numerous children of her own. Her husband told me that she was a Nana, so she knew what she was doing. I'll say!

When I was done my lunch and went to take Alex back, the lady kept thanking me for letting her hold Alex.

Grandmothers... what we would do without them?

  1. I wish I had been sitting next to a grandmother on the plane. As I was trying to eat my meal without Lukas grabbing it, I thought "how come I only have two hands, but he seems to have eight?!"
