Things We Swore We Would Never Do....

Here we go again...

It all started when Owen wanted a very specific Tonka firetruck. One not sold in Canada. He was almost 3 and it was really the first Christmas that he got the whole idea of Santa and gifts. He had seen this truck at someone's house and asked for it every day for months. I kept telling him to ask Santa for it.

Of course, I didn't know it was not available in Canada (it is now)...

So, I spent a fortune buying it online and having it shipped from the US.

I loved watching him open that present on Christmas morning. He didn't even want to open any other gifts.

Last year he wanted a spaceship. Surprisingly, there are not many age appropriate space ships for someone his age. Finally I found a Matchbox Space Shuttle that was just perfect. Only I couldn't find it anywhere....

I did order one online from Sears, but they were not able to fulfill the order. I ended up buying it on EBay in desperation. Again, spending more than I should.

Here we are this year. He wants a Star Wars Millennium Falcon. He is Star Wars crazy right now (despite never seeing the movies) and saw this toy on a Star Wars website we were looking at.

I've been looking for it everywhere.

Today we got the London Drugs flyer. We NEVER look at flyers, but for some reason Nick flipped through it while he was having coffee, and what did he see!! The Millennium Falcon on sale as of Tuesday. Of course, there is a big disclaimer on the ad about limited quantities....

So, I just called the North Vancouver London Drugs location and they have 1 in stock. I have asked them to put it aside for me and I will pick it up tonight. On Tuesday Nick will go to the London Drugs downtown and try to buy it on sale. If he's successful, we'll return the one I get tonight. If not, at least we will have one VERY happy boy on Christmas morning.

Price protection for 30 days as long as you have it in print! Don't need to go and return anything.

  3. I looove price protection. My dutch in-laws are amazed when I go back the next day to get a refund between what I paid and the sale price. Holland isn't quite so return-friendly.
