Better than an Egg

When I was in grade 9 I had to take care of an egg for 2-days.

It was a silly assignment because who would know if you really took care of your egg or just left it in your locker? And really, you might pretend your egg is crying, but we all know that is nothing compared to a real crying baby.

In my class we had an egg-napping and two egg-deaths, but I really don't think taking care of my egg taught me anything about responsibility and certainly didn't teach me a thing about being a parent (my egg didn't wake a zillion times because she was teething).

And if the purpose was to reduce the likelihood of a teenage pregnancy... I won't even comment on that.

So when I read about this life-like doll that requires diaper changes, feedings, and is programmed to cry and fuss at all hours of the day, I thought "what a brilliant idea!"

Of course if my Mother had had such an assignment, my brother and I would likely not be alive today.
